The Spread Of Communism
Communism has spread world wide. The picture on the left highlighted in red are countries and cities that has been taken over and were communists.
During the ruling of the Soviet Union, there were many communist countries that were affected by communism this include countries through Eastern Europe, Asia, and also Africa. During the 20th century communist countries include Afghanistan, Albania, Angola, Benin, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Congo, Czechoslovakia, East Germany, Ethiopia, Hungary, Mongolia, Mozambique, Poland, Romania, Somalia, South Yemen, Soviet Union, and Yugoslavia.
Now in the 21st century there are only 5 communist countries these countries include:
China: In 1949 Mao Zedong was control over China and proclaimed that the resident's Republic of China, a communist country. China had been called "Red China and has remained consistently a communist country since 1949.
Cuba: Fidel Castro in 1959 took over the Cuban government which was caused by
a revolution. This country became a fully communist country and has developed
close ties with the Soviet Union.
Laos: In 1975 following a revolution that was supported by Vietnam and the
Soviet Union which was before an official Democratic Republic had now became a
communist in the year 1975.
North Korea: In WWII Korea was captured by Japan and was divided following the war. The Soviet Union took over North Korea and the American South Korea. North Korea hasn't become a communist country until 1948.
Vietnam: North Vietnam became communist and had been supported by the Soviet Union while South Vietnam was democratic which then was supported by United States. In 1976 Vietnam became a communist country.
